Audien’s latest single “One More Weekend” ft. MAX keeps the party going day and night.
Audien, also known as Nate Rathbun, is hitting the music world hard with his enchanting beats.
Growing up in the small town of Mystic, Connecticut, Audien had to find unique ways to keep himself entertained.
“First came video games, then a fascination with video game music, and eventually learning how to produce electronic music myself. I did grow up on the water though, which I believe helped shape my passion for creating sonic landscapes.”
After working intensely at his passion, Audien caught a break with Flashover Records.
“It was especially surreal because I’d looked up to the label’s owner Ferry Corsten, who has since become a friend. I suspected I was on to something as a producer, but getting a demo signed was truly validating.”
Since then, Audien has gone on to work with big names like Tiesto, Armin van Burren, and Lady Antebellum.
“I’ve often been struck by the surprising generosity of some of the most legendary artists. I think there is something to be said for paying it forward.”
Like any major artist, there are some hurdles that have to be faced.
“Well I think the challenge was, and continues to be saturation. There are a lot of artists in the electronic space and its hard to rise above the noise. For me, the key has been having a signature sound. I think when people listen to some of my classic tracks like Wayfarer, or even my Pompeii remix, they immediately can tell it’s my work – and that has helped.”
Audien finds that putting his emotions into his tracks has proved to be proactive.
“For me, melody always comes first. Generally a quick keyboard riff or a pattern of chords. I think the melody tends to naturally reflect my mood at the time Im writing it. Im happy? major chords. I’m contemplative? a less obvious, unresolved melody.”
As he continues his journey, there are a few things Audien would like his fans to keep in mind.
“I want them to embrace my broadening musical curiosity. I wouldn’t be satisfied by producing one style for the rest of my life, and I hope they wouldn’t be satisfied if I did the same thing over and over either. I want to take risks, and I know that I won’t always succeed, but I really want my fans to be open-minded.”
Speaking of Audien’s music, his BRAND NEW SINGLE “One More Weekend” feat. MAX is out TODAY!!
“MAX and I were mutual fans of each other, and we connected on Twitter. I’d been trying out a few different vocalists on this song, waiting for the right person to come along, and MAX gave it a shot and nailed it instantly.”
In Audien’s words, “One More Weekend” is about “meeting someone and becoming instantly obsessed and attached to them.”
